Lynn Paxton, a racing legend from Dillsburg, Pennsylvania passed away on September 13, 2024 at the age of 80. Paxton’s Hall of Fame racing career spanned over two decades where he earned over 200 feature wins. Lynn was a fierce competitor on the track and his stats earned him an induction into the National Sprint Car Hall of Fame in 1996. Paxton left an indelible mark on the racing community, capturing the hearts of race fans and fellow drivers alike. Lynn’s passion for racing and dedication to the sport made him a beloved figure in the Central Pennsylvania community and beyond.

The Eastern Museum of Motor Racing was Lynn Paxton’s dream. Not everyone is lucky enough to make their dreams come true, but Lynn was, and in turn we are lucky to have had the opportunity to share in his dream. Every person that has set foot inside the museum or on the grounds of the Latimore Valley Fairgrounds has shared Lynn’s dream.

Lynn’s love for history combined with the Williams Grove Old Timers was a perfect match. What started as a group of racing enthusiasts and drivers meeting in a barn at Williams Grove Speedway eventually led to the revitalization of the Latimore Valley Fairgrounds and then the Eastern Museum of Motor Racing. Lynn was the driving force behind every step, getting his hands dirty rebuilding the speedway at the Fairgrounds and raising funds to build the museum.

As we mourn the loss of Lynn, we can take comfort in knowing that his legacy and love of racing will continue to be shared with new generations of race fans through the museum.
